Volunteer Opportunities

Home Care – Help families with the day-to-day demands of caring for their loved ones by providing companionship, running errands and giving caregiver respite.

Long-Term Care – Provide patients with companionship and emotional support to those in long-term care facilities.

In-patient Care – Greet visitors, assist with patient care under nursing supervision, support patients and families, and provide facility support.

Comfort Care/11th Hour – Assist the patient and family when the patient is apprehensive, lonely, actively dying or just needs the presence of a caring volunteer in the inpatient and long-term care facilities.

Holistic Care – Under the guidance of nurses and therapists, provide therapeutic massage, healing touch, reiki, aroma therapy, art therapy, music therapy and pet therapy.

Bereavement – Under the guidance of the Bereavement Coordinator, offer telephone support to patients’ families during the year following the death of their loved ones.

Community Outreach – Under the guidance of the Community Outreach Coordinator, volunteer speakers heighten community awareness of hospice care and also represent Hospice of Cincinnati at community events.

Spiritual Care – Provide support and comfort and be a friend to patients and their families. Work with the Hospice of Cincinnati chaplain to nourish spiritual needs.

Clerical Work, Fund-Raising and Special Assignments – Provide clerical support to various departments at Hospice of Cincinnati. Provide support and manpower Logofor fund-raising events.
