Bereavement
Hospice of Cincinnati offers a wide range of counseling services for families
and friends of patients. These include grief support groups, individual
and family grief counseling, memorial services, special interest seminars,
and Fernside: A Center for Grieving Children.
Grief Support Groups
HOC offers Grief Support Groups throughout the year for adult family members
and friends of Hospice patients. The program provides education about
the grief process in a supportive environment. The groups meet once a
week for six weeks and consist of presentations and discussions addressing
issues such as stress management, feelings, self-esteem, and role changes.
Individual & Family Grief
Counseling
HOC also provides individual and family grief counseling on a short-term
basis. These sessions help identify feelings and focus on concerns associated
with grief. Our counselors also offer referrals to appropriate community
resources, including long-term counseling, if desired.
Memorial Services
HOC offers ecumenical memorial services in the fall and spring for families
who have participated in the Hospice of Cincinnati program. At these special
services, family members are invited to remember their loved one and light
a candle in their memory.
Special Interest Seminars
HOC offers special interest seminars which address common bereavement
issues. During the holiday season, HOC offers a program on coping with
the stress of the holidays while grieving. Other seminars explore issues
such as changing roles following a loss and stress management techniques.
Fernside: A Center for Grieving
Children
Fernside offers peer and family support groups for children who have lost a parent or sibling. Camp WeBelong provides yet another outlet for children
to express themselves. For further information, please visit the Fernside
